A Rant About People Who Diss Others For Trying To Maintain A Healthy Weight. (Like…What?!)

20 Nov

I just ranted on a Facebook status and I decided to just copy and paste that shit onto my blog, and elaborate (sans all the typos from the original rant):

Something that annoys me more than when skinny people say they are fat:

When people offer me junk food, and I politely decline it, so they go on a tirade about how I am ridiculous for being on a diet and how they are bigger than me but they aren’t on a diet because they want to enjoy life and food. Then they get anyone who walks by involved by proclaiming “Oh my God! You have to hear this! She thinks she’s FAT. If she’s fat, then I’m obese! Like, shut up!” to try to make me feel stupid. I’m not on a diet. I love junk food. I also drink like a fish. Maybe I just don’t like your whack ass snacks and that’s why I declined your offer. I’m just trying to eat healthier/smaller portions, and I want to enjoy life, too…for a long time… which is why when I gain a few pounds, I try to lose it. Because I want to be somewhat healthy/be able to fit into my pants. Just because you eat fast food for lunch everyday so you can “enjoy yourself” doesn’t mean you’re Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love. No disrespect towards anyone, but I think anyone who says that they want to be overweight, is lying. Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels (except bacon…and buffalo chicken). FACT.

So. That was my status. And now I want to elaborate…

There are some people who eat fucking McDonald’s everyday and feel it’s totally legit to dole out weight loss advice. The worst one is “You know, if you don’t eat, your body goes into what is called ‘survival mode’, and stores fat, which actually makes you GAIN weight”. Hmmm, I’ve NEVER heard of that or read it a million times on AOL news! Like, ever. Here is the thing: I am not “skinny”. I am not “fat”. But when I start to get fat, I get depressed and when I get depressed about something in my life, I bitch for awhile, and then when I realize that bitching doesn’t burn calories, I do this crazy thing called CHANGE SOMETHING. Because I don’t feel like being an obese person. I’m not a health nut, I just want to not be overweight. Why is that ridiculous? To not be obese is a pretty good goal, right? Reasonable. I think that I’d be insane if I did nothing to change something that made me miserable. Being skinny doesn’t mean happy, and being fat doesn’t mean miserable. But being healthy sure does help those neurotransmitters let loose.

The funny thing is that it’s taboo/bullying if I were to call someone who is overweight out for their food choices. But anyone can give someone who is trying to lose weight shit and it’s not rude? Yes, I am only having this protein shake for lunch because I eat healthy snacks when I get hungry to hold me over until my normal sized dinner. That’s not starving myself, you just think that a Big Mac counts as 1 meal, when it really accounts for an entire day’s worth of calories. So who’s the idiot now?

I’m not judgmental and I don’t have unrealistic views of what looks good. I am not “skinny” or “fat”, just want to look healthy.  I mean, let me tell you my weight and you’ll understand that I’m not starving by any means. But I also don’t think it’s anyone’s business to comment on anyone’s weight or what anyone puts in their mouths. Am I right, or am I right?

End rant.

so true! I love food, and being healthy is so much better than being chubby or skinny. Live life without counting calories…We all know whats good and not good for our’s all about portion control

I get this shit all the time and its fucking annoying, I’ve always been a healthy weight and all my life people think its ok to comment on how I’m annorexic (I’m not)
I’m not skinny, I’m what should be a “normal” weight, if fat people were happy being fat then they would not feel the need to comment on what passes into my mouth. I absolutley hate eating out with friends and families because I stop eating when Im full and then the comments start, no body says anything to the fatty who has had three courses and eaten my leftovers though. Its just rude!
